Tuscan Travel

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.”― Barbara HallIt was definitely time to embark on something other than what we had been doing. We had spent too long in Rome and Siena was beginning to feel stifling.I looked at a map and pointed to a lake. The next day we got in the car and started driving. The path was definitely not straight. We most definitely went down the wrong roads and while we weren't entirely lost, it did not matter. We came across an antique store and had to stop. It was like walking into a painting that had been stored in a damp basement. Nothing looked like it had been touched since it had been put there. Everything looked melted from the amount of rain that had been soaking it for years and years. The place smelled stagnant. The views driving around Italy are as beautiful as one would imagine. We took advantage of the high views and narrow pull offs. It took us 4 hours to get to the lake. By the time we arrived we had to turn right back around because we had made dinner reservations at La Taverna di San Giuseppe in Siena that evening.Thank goodness for us it was only 45 minutes to get back.
